Healing or Hiding?
“I'm Healing”
I've heard those words so many times and now it sounds fake...
Sometimes it's true and sometimes it's really just an excuse.
And maybe it's just an excuse to avoid difficult and really Important conversations conversations.
An excuse to never apologize.
An excuse to hurt people because we're hurting(this sounds cliche, ahhhhh😭).
Personally, i feel like "healing" doesn't exempt us from accountability. I think your pain explains your behavior but It doesn't automatically justify it.
I think healing should sound more like evidence, it doesn't have to be perfect but there should be pure progress.
Because real healing doesn't only change how you feel, It changes how you treat people, how you respond when you're wrong. It teaches you that growth isn't just about surviving your own pain.....it's about making sure your pain doesn't become someone else's pain.
And maybe, just maybe that's where closure comes in......
I'm guessing that a lot of us have been told that we need closure before we can move on.
That we need one last conversation, one last explanation, one last apology.
But you know sometimes life doesn't give you what you want. Sometimes people leave without explaining, sometimes apologies never come, and sometimes the story ends incomplete.
And somehow, we convince ourselves that we have to wait...... always wait. Wait for the text, for the conversation, for them to finally understand what they did.
Meanwhile, life keeps moving....(On its own). The hardest thing I've learnt in the past few months is that..
Healing and closure were never meant to depend on someone else's choices and If your healing depends on another person's willingness to explain themselves, apologize, or come back...then you've handed them the keys to your future.
Maybe healing isn't waiting until everything makes sense, maybe it's choosing peace even when it doesn't actually choose peace.
Maybe closure isn't something people give you, maybe it's something you decide to live without.
Because the moment you stop waiting for permission to move forward...that's when healing finally starts looking like progress.
Yhhhh Byeeee.
